There’s only one campus and the acceptance range is less than 250 students. Only bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Culture, and Humanities can be obtained in St. Stephen’s University. This fact significantly limits applicants in their possible life and professional choices.
While First Nations University of Canada (FNUC) is accredited and recognised on the official level by the authorities of Saskatchewan province, the bachelor’s degrees in several fields of study should be conferred by the University of Regina. The reason is that FNUC is regarded as a federated college of this large uni. The financial aspect is a major disadvantage since students must pay all University of Regina related fees. Also, there were cases of inappropriate spending of funds by the staff. Instances of financial fraud are reflected in its material conditions, which, in turn, affects students’ experience.
LIMITED STUDY AREAS

Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) was ranked 89 in best Canadian universities’ ranking and has an enrollment level approximately 1500 students in size. Though it’s possible to get a Bachelor’s degree only in the Science & Technology fields and the opportunity to obtain a Master’s diploma is absent, that is one of the biggest disadvantages for many applicants. Though if you are fond of the country musical genre, living in Merritt, Columbia, where NVIT is located, may be real fun for you as there are multiple music events and attractions that gave this city its nickname “Country Music Capital of Canada”.
University of Hearst, represented as Université de Hearst, demonstrates even more limited opportunities as it offers Bachelor’s degrees in Humanities and Social Sciences exclusively for French-speaking or at least bilingual students who want to get higher education in Northeastern Ontario. An additional disadvantage is connected to its size, which is limited by 250 students maximum while the current number of learners is approximately 100.
Kingswood University also has a low country rank of 94 but it offers degrees solely in Theology and Ministry. It’s a rather small uni that is located in the rural area near Sussex, a town in New Brunswick. These two factors define low popularity and ranking of this uni in Canada since it allows to get a Bachelor’s degree only in the specific area of expertise, which is not remarkably popular in the contemporary world led by technological and scientific progress.
Another uni that is known among the worst is located in Moncton, New Brunswick, is also treated negatively by some people as it’s operated by the Baptist church while offering learning programs in various spheres of study. Crandall University is affiliated with the religion which is reflected in the teaching practices. Some students consider it a disadvantage due to personal reasons and refusal to admit the policy of rooting the university education in the faith and Christian values.
DO WORST CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES DESERVE THIS STATUS?
Nipissing University has an only 56 rank in the rating of Canadian universities but the variety of studying programs, available research opportunities, and decent residence programs prove the fact that ratings may be wrong in regards to the education quality. Rather low rating can be explained by Nipissing University’s being focused mainly on undergraduate programs. There are only a few opportunities and limited areas of study for those who want to receive a Master’s or Doctorate diploma. Does this fact allow to include Nipissing University in the list of the worst Canadian universities? Not at all, since the individualised and supportive approach to teaching compensates for some narrow opportunities, and the quality of obtained knowledge and skills is worth all efforts that learners dedicate to studies.
Many decent institutions have low ranks and poor reputation though it does not mean that they are bad or provide low-quality education. Many Canadian universities choose to narrow down their field of expertise and provide only specific learning programs. Every student has the opportunity to choose a university depending on the career choice and even a small university in a rural setting can help to achieve the aim. Each university has its own disadvantages, and even though some of them have more negative aspects, multiple positive sides still exist.
